Why did I choose 'Media Arts Production' at UB?
Finishing my master's degree at a graduate school in the US has been my dream since I spent a semester abroad during my bachelor's degree. I got to know the American academic system as completely different to my experiences in Germany: Much more scholastic, practically oriented, configured for a constant growth in knowledge and with classes taking place at a highly individual level that allows for developing a personal voice and true self-realisation.
University at Buffalo, the State University of New York, has offered me a tuition scholarship which allowed me to move here and pursue my Master of Fine Arts in Media Arts Production. The Department of Media Study focuses on conducting research and educating in experimental and radical uses of media in the arts and in society at large, including video, sound art, digital and computational media.

What are my goals? It is the facilities and instructors of this department that allow me to dedicate my entire creativity to pave my way to my professional career. Even more – to explore beyond the taught material and create projects with an individual note through my broad background, applying personal creative problem-solving skills. Especially in my classes Programming for Digital Arts, Wearable Computing and HCI, I have acquired valuable skills from which, in turn, I derive continuous inspiration. This variety allows me the to relate the different areas of programming, art, user experience, spatiality etc. among one another. For my master thesis and project, I aim to explore the medium Virtual Reality from an artistic point of view to find out what composes the user experience in an immersive virtual environment and what happens if the sense of presence is disrupted. The theoretical research is accompanied by a practical project realized with Unity Engine. |
Having succeeded in pursuing the degree of my choice within the country of my choice, I am endlessly motivated to grasp my entire course of studies with my full potential in order to gain the maximum growth in knowledge, competences and experience. In addition, I benefit from being immersed in a foreign culture, raising awareness of the international market, speaking a second language fluently, and collaborating with people from all over the world.
